On November 9, 2006, SAC, Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China, held “Launch Ceremony for the U.S-China Standards Platform” in Beijing. Mr.Liu Pingjun, Administrator of SAC, Mr.Buhadi, President of US National Standard Association, and Ms. Kelin, NIST, who spoke on behalf of the president of NIST, Mr.Jeffrey, separately delivered a warm address on the ceremony.



 In their speech, they were highly complimentary about recent satisfactory cooperation in standardization between China and USA. To put “the U.S-China Standards Platform” into operation will be beneficial to both sides’ standardization cooperation and exchange. Meanwhile, to provide favorable conditions for two countries’ enterprises getting the newest standards information each other at any moment. On the other hand, it will reduce the friction of trade between China and USA for the standard caused and improve two sides the developing of the trade. This Standards Platform not only is first established by between China and developed countries, but also is base on SAC signed cooperation agreement with US National Standard Association on September 18th, 2006. Moreover, SAC will also establish some Standards Platforms with other developed countries such as Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, and ASEAN, etc. It’s certain that U.S-China Standards Platform established to promote the developing of two countries standardization and to expand trade each other.
Over 80 attendees from the concerned Departments of State Council, AQSIQ, TC (Professional Standardization Technology Committee), USA Branch Offices in Beijing, CNIS, CSP, CAS and the China and Foreign enterprises’ representatives joined the ceremony.
